Ming Chuan University’s Department of Commercial Design has brought home exciting news from the 17th Moscow Global Biennale of Graphic Design “Golden Bee” (Golden Bee 17)! Among over 17,000 entries from 70 countries worldwide, 23 students guided by Professor Chen-Kuo Yi-Yen secured a total of 37 shortlisted works—ranking first in Taiwan for the number of nominations! Notably, Zhou Yu-Xuan with Ferapontovo Unwoven and Zhou Zhi-Yu with Abstract Pulse both won Honorable Mentions, stepping onto the international design stage with outstanding creative performance and showcasing the department’s design prowess and global competitiveness.
The two award-winning works each present a unique design perspective: Ferapontovo Unwoven combines World Heritage with local lace craftsmanship, exploring the relationship between architecture, history, and memory through the deconstruction and reassembly of lines; Abstract Pulse draws inspiration from Kandinsky’s abstract art, reinterpreting its spirit through vibrant colors, geometric shapes, and visual rhythm. Winning two Honorable Mentions alongside 37 shortlisted entries is not only the result of the students’ creativity and hard work, but also a brilliant demonstration of Ming Chuan Commercial Design’s commitment to design education. We welcome everyone to join Ming Chuan Commercial Design and win big awards together!
