Assistant Professor Chen, GoYen from the Department of Commercial Design at Ming Chuan University has recently achieved remarkable success in several major international design competitions, demonstrating exceptional creative productivity and professional academic excellence.
Professor Chen first received the Silver Award at the international marine arts event, International Ocean Art Festival (IOAF) — also known as the Conch Awards — with the environmentally conscious work Building Tomorrow’s Eco Dream, which highlights themes of ecological sustainability.
Soon after, he achieved another major milestone at the International Original Design Awards (IODA) 2025 Professional Category, where he won Gold, Bronze, and Excellence Awards in a single competition. Among these works, the Gold Award–winning piece Aesthetic Waste also received an Excellence Award at the KTK Chiantai Design Award, a prestigious competition founded by renowned design master Kan Tai‑keung and widely regarded as one of the most academically respected platforms in the Chinese design community.
These competitions are known for their extremely selective acceptance rates and rigorous international judging standards. The IOAF gathers creative perspectives on global marine ecology, while the KTK Chiantai Design Award serves as a highly competitive professional benchmark for emerging Chinese designers.
