The Department of Commercial Design at Ming Chuan University has achieved another international milestone. Assistant Professor Chen Go-Yen won the Silver Award at the “2026 3rd International Cultural Heritage Exchange Art Competition” with the work “Flourishing Emergence: Light of the Silk Road.” The piece demonstrates exceptional design capability and cultural interpretation. Using golden silk as the primary medium, it forms the Chinese character “絲” (silk) through natural folds, combined with imagery of camel caravans to symbolize the historical context and cultural flow of the Silk Road, transforming traditional symbols into contemporary visual language.
The department has long emphasized “design as narrative,” integrating digital applications with cultural and creative education to cultivate design talents with global perspectives and practical skills. This award not only highlights faculty excellence but also reflects the overall success of its teaching approach. Moving forward, the department will continue to advance AI and interdisciplinary design development, welcoming students passionate about design to join Ming Chuan and unlock their competitive edge.
