To advance international exchange and departmental development, the Department of Commercial Design at Ming Chuan University visited Tohoku University on November 27. Representing the department were Associate Professor Feng, Cheng- Chih (also Director of the International College’s Fashion and Innovation Management Program), Assistant Professor Su, Wen-Hsiang, and Assistant Professor Chen GoYen. During the visit, the team conducted campus tours, design presentations, and formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a foundation for ongoing collaboration. Both universities plan to engage in in-depth cooperation regarding academic resources and talent development.
Department Chair Yu, Shu-Yin emphasized that the collaboration aims to align educational resources and actively promote faculty-student exchanges, academic research collaboration, and student exchange programs. This partnership will create a bridge for students to participate in cross-institutional learning, broadening their design perspectives and enhancing professional competitiveness.
In addition to signing the agreement, the three visiting professors delivered academic lectures, showcasing the department’s strengths in practical design and innovative teaching to Tohoku University’s students. Graduate and undergraduate students from Ming Chuan University also shared their learning outcomes via video conference, fostering interactive dialogue and engagement. The lectures received high praise from local faculty and students, with lively on-site exchanges demonstrating the professional capabilities of the department in design education, and laying a strong foundation for future academic partnerships.
