During the performance, the illustrations were projected onto the stage as background visuals. Combined with traditional Chinese orchestral music and the rhythm of a storyteller\u2019s narration, the background images were changed dynamically throughout the performance. Through a lively and humorous presentation, the audience was immersed in a sensory experience where visual art and music intertwined.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"950\" data-end=\"1550\"><em data-start=\"950\" data-end=\"962\">Bai Zei Qi<\/em> is a well-known Taiwanese folk tale. In the Taiwanese Hokkien language, <strong data-start=\"1035\" data-end=\"1048\">\u201cbai zei\u201d<\/strong> refers to lying or bragging, and thus <strong data-start=\"1087\" data-end=\"1103\">\u201cBai Zei Qi\u201d<\/strong> has become a nickname for someone who constantly tells tall tales. The story follows the mischievous protagonist Bai Zei Qi and his many elaborate tricks, including episodes such as <strong data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1364\">\u201cThe Fire Farce,\u201d \u201cThe Leaf Treasure Coat,\u201d \u201cThe Hunchback\u2019s Healing Bag,\u201d<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1369\" data-end=\"1413\">\u201cThe Fragrant Q Pork Knuckle Magic Pot.\u201d<\/strong> These classic scenes are linked together in a story that is simple yet witty, appealing to audiences of all ages with its playful humor.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1552\" data-end=\"2119\">In terms of character design, round and plump figures symbolize the na\u00efve and greedy personalities of the uncle and sister-in-law, while the thin and wiry body of Bai Zei Qi highlights his sly and cunning, mouse-like character. Bai Zei Qi is depicted wearing cropped blue-and-white pajama pants, with crescent-shaped smiling eyes and a bowl-cut hairstyle reminiscent of a short mushroom cut shaved on both sides\u2014features that naturally evoke a sense of humor. This blend of retro style and trendy fashion creates a comical aesthetic with a touch of <strong data-start=\"2101\" data-end=\"2118\">postmodernism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2121\" data-end=\"2500\">Many illustrations incorporate backgrounds inspired by early Taiwanese military dependents\u2019 villages and cultural imagery\u2014such as Hakka floral fabrics, old streets, water buffalo, stone mills, and brick houses.
